Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard surfaces
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his first championship for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging period, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the American major.
His varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.
Presently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.
It is his first trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court from spring of 2023.
The win also signifies Medvedev has secured twenty-one titles at 21 various competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is really nice," commented tennis professional the champion.
"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his past six championship matches, featuring in Halle in the past months.
Medvedev's defensive play style and frequent emotional displays on court had caused commentators to wonder if his skill to play at the highest level was over.
Yet the player has made changes in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and perform positively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.
Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, taking 4 of the last five games to gain the advantage.
The competitors traded break points in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to create a final set.
He defended four early-game opportunities in a close third set before the champion won the break to fifteen to secure the win.
Suitably, the winner secured victory with a point at the net area, with Moutet incapable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
